MY Silly Girl

This was too cute not to scrap!

Becky had found a lip balm with shimmer and her rosy sunglasses. Came over to me telling me to, "LOOK" My Pretty Silly Girl had the sunglasses on upside down and when I got the camera and asked her to show me her lips...I captured a bunch of silliness!

Hug-A-Bear Day

So, over on If It's Groovy....we were asked to Hug a bear!
I have been meaning to HUG-A-BEAR for a while. Not we are on the road heading to NJ.
Of Course, I forgot to get that picture.
My daughter and I got the chance. We made a pit stop at a Wal-Mart and my daughter spotted this bear with a tag on him. It actually reminded me that I needed the photo, too!
Well, we won a 10x10 mounted photo from Wal-Mart. I didn't know they did this...not sure if all Wal-Mart Stores do, BUT the ones in Newfoundland do!

Just in case my photo didn't make it to If It's Groovy in time....Here it is!

My 5 year old did a pretty good job using my phone to take the picture...it only took two shots.

I tried to crop out the background not much luck!

Dad's Helper Page is UP!

Over on If It's Groovy, my Dad's Helper page is up!

One thing I have overcome with my scrapbooking is to use my own handwriting on my pages. I used to use computer printed journal when I first started, then die-cut letters, alpha stickers and stamps. Somewhere along the line I heard the words..."capture you on the page" I find that this is especially important when it is my own children's scrapbook pages. I savor those handwritten recipes, envelopes and cards that I do have from family members who are not longer with me.

For this page title, I used a trick I picked up from Deb. Deb used this technique back on a Online Crop over at Fiskateers, it was one of her Simon Says Games. Here is the trick: Turn your paper over and either write your word in cursive backwards then cut out or you can print your words on the write side up paper and cut them out!
Here is way I did the 1st time I tried this trick on the title "Smiley":

Here is my 2nd time using that technique on a larger scale for Dad's helper title used in cursive and print:
I inked up the edges of the word "Dad's" with Red ink to add depth. Using a Glitter Gel Pen I traced the edges of each letter in the word "helper". This was a fun, simple design...But those pics and title have impact!

I used photos that I have be playing with for a long time. Nothing never seemed to go for me. Once I pulled out the Primary colors from scraps I was working with and grouped my photo collage style I got it!
These are pictures of my daughter outside helping my husband put in our stone front walkway, back in NJ.

Cookbooking: Family Dinner

Cookbooking is something that really captures family life.
Back in NJ, we would get together with my side of family around holidays, birthdays and for Summer BBQs.
Since coming to Newfoundland, we get together for "Family Dinner" which can vary from almost every Sunday to once a month. I wanted to capture my turn, "Mexican Themed" This page is the 1st page in a series; back in August you may have seen the next page on If It's Groovy's Junk Drawer Challenge: Titled "Making Guacamole"

For my Family Dinner page I used Making Memories Epoxy Alphas & Close to my Heart Atomic Caps/Lower Alpha Stamp Set inked with Barn Red. Cropped all my photos in tight and fussy cut the finished chili picture. I used all the papers from a pad by GCD Studios with the exception of White Cardstock. I used the From the Kitchen Cricut cartridge to make my pot/crockpot shaped journaling menu on the cardstock.
