Logging....January's XOXO Scrapbooking DT Page

There's only two days left to get your page posted to have a chance to be next our next Guest Design Team Member!

This month's page Wendy gave us offers a great clean and simple layout that if you click on over to the blog...HERE. You can see how easy it can be changed up! There are some great takes on her original page!

Here is mine using three photos I had. My son has had a love of trucks since a baby. He got to experience having his Uncle and Poppy working on a logging truck in the yard one day.

I created my own woodgrain chipboard alphas using K&Company's freshpaint die-cut chipboard, Close To My Heart Weathered Backgrounds (wood grain) Stamp and Close To My Heart Cocoa Ink.

Using some scrap dark green and Martha Stewart's edge punch called Pine Forest created the bottom border. I had some wood grain embossed scraps from another project. After rounding the corners of each piece, edge distressing and inking with Cocoa I had some logs!
I found a image that looks a bit like a saw blade on my Cricut - Artbooking cartridge and cut out 2 layering them. Punched out a 3/4" black circle, punched the largest hole with my eyelet setter and used a Silver Metallic Sharpie to edge the center of the blade. Wrote NFLD (Newfoundland) and the date 8-11-2011 around the blade.

Here is Wendy's original page:

SO Jump over and check out the other lifts and get yours posted! I would love to see what you can create even if you do something after the January ends!!! Let me know in the comments, so I can see!!!

Cut out my title using Cricut - Boys Will Be Boys and the @ from Artbooking cartridges. The Cruisin' was in a few layers and colors.

Stamped the date using CTMH - March Word Puzzle and You are my Happy Alpha sets. Made my own kite matching one on patterned paper and fussy cut the tail of strings/bows.

Retreat: Moving on after a cruise...Easter, Beach & Randoms

Our Yummiest stop...so good I never stopped to get a picture of those tasty rum cakes. So I used one from the brochure. Here is Page 1:

Page 2: I think it still needs something. I added the tickets from an ice show we went to that night as we started our journey of a day at sea and back to Florida.

The complete layout - looking at it together I think I will add some navy and some journaling to page 2.

So, after the cruise layouts were completed as best I could with what I had with me. It was time to get some random layouts done that have been planning to do.

Here is a Easter page - the stamp I colored in with marker and fussy cut. added the basket and fussy cut the eggs placed them on top of the image.

My daughter and her 2nd cousin with the Easter bunny. Used CTMH Framework & Keepsake Alpha Stamp Sets. EK Success/Martha Stewart Border Punch & Heidi Swapp Dial Date Stamp.

Next was a 2 page layout that I kept playing with but never just got the tape gun out and made it officially finished! Here are the stamped trees and fussy cut birds.

Matted and finally put those pictures in position! Page 1 - Grandma and my daughter making the peanut butter treat to "Feed the Birds". I kept thinking of Mary Poppins and the bird lady so I just went with it!

Page 2 - A bit hard to see here but as soon as they pulled the cage out the birds came flocking.

The complete layout

Next up was a trip to the beach page featuring my husband and the kids. LBI - Long Beach Island, NJ

I want to use Mudd Puddles on the title - which is a sand like texture. I used it on a page in the past.

Two pages together

One in the works...I liked how this photo worked with the papers. Have to confirm the date/event to finish and title.

I scrapped the pics but wasn't sure of the details. So, now that I am home I got him to fill me in. My husband when he was Ironworking in Boston before we met!

I made the steel beams by scoring the cardstock and adding some pastels to the centers.

Ready as I can be for the Retreat & the Red Mustached Army

Packed after a 2 day push from my husband to get off the fence. I am ready as best I could for the May Scrapbooking Retreat.

I participated in a Card Swap for the Retreat creating my own Red Mustache Army.

I have to say I was totally blown away by what the girl's created. They bling'd, layered, trimmed, frilled, heat & dry embossed their cards out! Definitely need to push myself for the next one! Should have heat embossed that mustache!!!!

May XOXO Scrapbooking Lift Challenge

Welcoming May in and look what I saw Saturday while at my retreat.....
Yup, that is snow! I captured this when it first started. Ended up covering the porch and the grass but next I knew it was gone and just wet!

This month I had fun using photo booth pics I had saved from my brother and sister-in-law's reception!
There was too many cute shots I had to use!
I think I only covered up one, which were just top of heads!
I created a two page layout. So, just like every other month over at XOXO Scrapbooking, draw inspiration and scraplift me to become a guest DT member for a couple of months! You can lift the two pages or lift just one of the pages.
Here is the two pages together:

Page One: Using mist, fussy cutting, stamping and buttons. Dad & Son, Dad & 2 Kids, Dad & Daughter, Me & 2 Kids...

Page Two: Misting, fussy cutting, stamping and a rosette. Grandma & Grandaughter, Grandpa & Grandaughter, Kiddos on their own slightly. Lastly, my son with my Sister-In-Law!

Can wait to see what you can come up with. Link your page up over at XOXO Scrapbooking by May 31st !!!

Sometimes not getting the chance to get in your Craft Room is a good thing!

Well yesterday I posted that I needed to get in my craft room...

I got the chance to make a quick card yesterday afternoon. It ended up being a Christmas card all because I found a cute stamp I had! I still need to add the sentiment but it is finished otherwise.

I was hoping to get to a few other cards I started but never finished for Fiskateers - Card Lifters.

SO, today I had to get a birthday card made for a gathering this afternoon.

I am in love with this card...I think nature themed card are so fun to do!
I find that these cards are where my layering and creativity come out the most!

READY to SEE what I did? OK, in a minute...

I use my old cell phone as my MP3 player for music in my craft room.
While I was building the card I took pictures with that old phone as I went. That way you can see the layers and steps.

I will be posting the steps later in another post. Since I got a party to get to!!!!

HERE YOU GO! A LITTLE TASTE OF NEWFOUNDLAND!
