It's no secret that women's fashion of the 80's involved the resurgence of shoulder pads. Let that be the inspiration for this challenge, which is to include something dimensional and padded on your project.

Little Yellow Bicycle's new release "Feels Like Home" immediately had me singing Madonna's 1989 hit,  Like  A Prayer....Life is a mystery, Everyone must stand alone, I hear you call my name, and it feels like home. And then of course you can't think of Madonna without thinking of Material Girl. So let's make this challenge inspired by Madonna and her hit Material Girl.

Create a project using material, some sort of metal, and a bit of bling...all of Madonna's favorite thing! Bonus points if your material is leather & lace :) If you're looking for inspiration, Google "Madonna fashion icon" for images of her outfits.

Maya Road, with their love of zippers, has inspiredus to jump back to the popular ‘80’s fashion of Zipper-Legged Jeans! Did you wear them!?! Your Challenge is to create a project that includes a zipper :)  This could be a zipper embellishment, zipper border, zipper in sewing…… Maybe now’s the time to challenge yourself to make an adorable zipper flower! Did you know gift bags became popular in the 80s?  I can remember how much I loved using (and reusing) them, especially at Christmas.  Make a gift bag using at least 3 Fiskars tools.  We will be extra excited to see some orange on this project. Please identify the Fiskars tools used for us.

Find a song that you can incorporate some of the song lyrics into a project, layout or card. You can start by using your favorite search engine and input "1980 song lyrics" or enter one of the above bands.

Something about the cutesy designs of Doodlebug Designs brings out the child in us. This has inspired us to look back at the popular toys of the 80s and challenge you to create a project inspired by one of them. You can use a design element directly from the character or use even use the color combination from their clothing.
Here’s a list to choose from: Care Bears, Cabbage Patch Dolls, Teddy Ruxpin, Strawberry Shortcake, He-Man, Pound Puppies or My Little Pony.

BasicGrey, what else can be said. Grey is a great neutral to pair with the 80s color trend of NEON brights. Create a project pairing bright neon colors with grey.

May Arts, with all their frilly ribbons and trims, remind us of the Ruffles that trimmed interior design in the ‘80’s with ruffles on pillows, curtains, bedspreads……

Also remember those macramé plant hangings :)

Your Challenge is to create a project with a paper, ribbon or fabric Ruffles OR

use braided twine and beads reminiscent of the macramé art form.

Fiskateers Birthday Club Online Crop...cont'd

BCC #5 - Make a birthday themed project featuring presents.

BCC #6 - With July 4th around the corner make a red, white & blue birthday themed project.

BCC #7 - Challenge was to name your best birthday. The extended weekend trip to Niagara Falls was my favorite. Also, the 1st trip album I completed. Here is a link to a few of those pages. Niagara Falls Butterflies

BCC #8 - Make a birthday themed project using 3 Fiskars tools and Fiskateer scissor colors - orange & green.

BCC # 9 (GAME) - Was a name game for crafting items. Spell out HAPPY BIRTHDAY in a chain like fashion. So, H - Hand Punch then A - Adhesive....etc. Around and around it goes.

BCC #10 - Create a birthday card that incorporates a "peek-through to the inside" element via some sort of window on the front.

BCC #11 - Create a card the doubles as a gift card holder. I RAN OUT OF TIME! PLUS NOTHING POPPED IN MY MIND, CREATIVITY WISE!

BCC #12 - Make a birthday card for a special male in your life - man or boy!

Used a Platinum Staz-On --- I wanted to go back an add embossing powder to the tires and bike itself. BUT I like the look AND don't want to screw up what I got!

I did stamp the image on a scrap piece that I will have to TRY this technique of adding embossing powder to areas. I have only really tried it before using an outlined stamped image. So I only had to fill in the outline...pretty much like you would coloring.

Fiskateers Birthday Club Online Crop

I got a late start on this weekend's Birthday Club Online Crop, but I am glad I am getting some of the challenges done! Got to build up my birthday card stash!!!!

Here are the cards/projects I created for the Online Crop:

BCC #1 - Make a card with cake and candle(s) on it. Can be a cupcake, slice of cake or entire cake.

BCC #2 - Make a birthday card using only scraps and your base card. 

BCC #3 - Make a (birthday themed project) for Belated Birthday.

BCC #4 - Make a birthday themed project that is NOT a card or a Layout and use at least on Fisker *tool* other than paper cutters and/or scissors.

Used a Circle lever punch and a hand punch for the hole the fibers go through!

World Card Making Day

Over on Fiskateers we are celebrating with an Online Crop Challenge.
Here are a few I have finish so far:

WCD - All Shaped Up - Create a card in a shape other than a square or rectangle.

WCD - Ribbons and Bows - Oh my - Create a card using at least one ribbon and one bow.

It came out good enough for a kid's birthday card!

 WCD Challenge - BOO to You! - Create a Halloween card!

For a Birthday party my daughter is going to at the movies: Hotel Transylvania

WCD Challenge - It's a Match - Create a card along with a matching envelope!

 WCD Challenge - It's the Tiny Things - Create a "Thinking of You" Card that's all about featuring the tiny things (i.e glitter, mini brads, tiny punched pieces, seed beads, etc.)

Week #3 of The Fiskateer Games!

Cardmaking Event: Challenge #1: Create a card with a peek through element. (i.e. use punches to create a window in the front of the card).

Cardmaking Event: Challenge #2: Create a card with a decorative edge (i.e. use deco scissors, pinking shears, add punched pieces for a unique border, or even border punches).

Cardmaking Event: Challenge #3: Create a card with a unique shape (i.e. butterfly, star, circle, animal, heart, funky folded, etc.)

Cardmaking Event: Challenge #4: Create a card that incorporates ssome sort of interactive element (think: slider, pop-up, seek 'n find for children, etc.)

So, for this week I completed the following:
Layout Event Challenge #1: Create a layout consisting of at least 2 photos and using at least 4 different Fiskars tools.

Layout Event Challenge #2: Create a layout incorporating the negative space of a punched piece(s). Use the piece(s) as is, or use it as a mask, or stencil......

Layout Event Challenge #3: Create a layout by using an embellishment in the formation of the Olympic Rings as inspiration.

For the Birds - Clear Stamps

Threading Water - Border Punch

I loved that the For the Birds Stamp Set had the word "inspire" on it! My Girl, Becky has been inspired by her Grandmother & Aunt! They love to go for nature walks and look for/at the different birds. Becky just got a Newfoundland Bird Guide from her Aunt for her adventures here in Newfoundland. Now, I just got to get her Aunt here to explore with her!

How I created the card:

Using a wide Brown Grosgrain Ribbon I made the tree. Attached to my patterned paper wrapping the extra behind and then attaching to my card base. Cut another piece of ribbon, angling the one cut for the end of a branch. Folded over the side closest to the tree and used glue dots to hold the folds. Giving the branch some dimension. 

Stamped my bird on Hollyhock Cardstock using the matching ink and fussy cut. I distressed the edges of the bird to give her some life then inked the edges. Cut out a 2" circle using handmade Mulberry Paper. Cut the circle in half and frayed the edges for the nest. Attached the nest to the bird in layers and popped up the bird using foam squares. Punched and inked my border, for the ground/grass. Stamped my sentiment.

I also made a tag...Not sure how I want to use it yet! But my brother is getting married and his girl(future SIL) has been shopping for a dress. So, I was inspired.
