Pulling Daddy's Heart Strings

I was excited for this challenge...This is actually the last challenge given at If It's Groovy!!!! Deb, Thanks to all your hard work and having me be apart of it!
I had tucked away an over-sized handmade card my daughter, Becky made for Valentine's that she gave to her Dad. It got a bit wrinkled and abused, but it was packed up for 3 years. Finally, I got the inspiration after reading the challenge titled "Heartstrings" and I knew I had to do a 2 page layout so...
It just fit so perfect, Becky has him by the heartstrings! Like he says often, "There is no female that any man can love like his daughter. No matter what she does in her life he will love her unconditionally!"

I wanted Becky's artwork to show, so simple and clean it is! Cutting a bit off center so her hand traced prints were still together but split.

I pulled out my old Sizzix machine and the Sidekick. I cut a Sizzlet border, Heart Lace. After I cut out the 2 Heart Lace borders I added "strings to each of the connecting hearts.

Using an old popped snowtube I cut out the title with Dot Numbers on the Sizzix.

Added the title, "Pulling Daddy's Heart Strings." Since Daddy was already on the card, I added the "'s" and the card was already Heart-shaped the title came together.

Pop's Farm - IIG Challenge Scrap Snob Page

My Scrap Snob Challenge Page is up over on If It's Groovy.
So What is a "Scrap Snob" you ask....Well, Deb over at If It's Groovy gave us the task of using only one Brand for everything on your page.

I used all Close to my Heart(CTMH) products to complete this page.

The papers are from the CTMH Mayberry Collection. Inked Distressed the edges using CTMH Chocolate ink and Fussy cut out the stamped title using CTMH Token Alphabet.

Used CTMH fine tip side of the Chocolate Marker for my journaling. Distressed the CTMH Chocolate Cardstock using CTMH Edge Distresser. Stamped the Month using CTMH Classmate Alphabet and the Date using CTMH Amore Numbers. The Pumpkin/Indian Corn image is from CTMH Thanksgiving stamp that I used the CTMH inks and Blending Pen.

I did use my Sew Easy Tool to mark out my stitching BUT I did use CTMH twine. Picture is from 1976 but the journaled memories are current.

Hug-A-Bear Day

So, over on If It's Groovy....we were asked to Hug a bear!
I have been meaning to HUG-A-BEAR for a while. Not we are on the road heading to NJ.
Of Course, I forgot to get that picture.
My daughter and I got the chance. We made a pit stop at a Wal-Mart and my daughter spotted this bear with a tag on him. It actually reminded me that I needed the photo, too!
Well, we won a 10x10 mounted photo from Wal-Mart. I didn't know they did this...not sure if all Wal-Mart Stores do, BUT the ones in Newfoundland do!

Just in case my photo didn't make it to If It's Groovy in time....Here it is!

My 5 year old did a pretty good job using my phone to take the picture...it only took two shots.

I tried to crop out the background not much luck!

Ribbon Palooza

My Ribbon Palooza layout is up over at If It's Groovy!

I have been wanting to do a page using hexagons for a while now! Back in January IIG DT Member, Heather posted a sketch that I used for my layout! Thanks Heather for the great sketch! So, "One of the BOYS, now!" page was a fun event that had my husband and I smiling from the second we "try it" until dinner that night! My son needed a bike helmet, his 1st bike helmet mind you. "The Boys" aka his cousin and neighborhood boys are always riding their bikes around our house. My son, Luke is always right behind them! Monkey see monkey do type thing. So, we get out to buy a helmet and as soon as it is clipped on. It never came off! Through the store Luke wore his new helmet. At the cashier counter he would not take it off. Into the truck for the ride home. He sat all proud in his car seat with his helmet. So, I had to get a shot of him in the car seat when we finally got home. Luke was telling me holding up one finger, "One da Boys!"

I used papers from a Close to my Heart pack called, Fanfare. Cut out a large Hexagon and smaller ones using the Accent Essentials cartridge on the Cricut. Choose a Ribbon Palooza in coordinating colors.

Popped up my photos using Foam tape and added my title with glitter foam alphabets. On the yellow hexagon the white glitter didn't show up as well so I outlined those with a red glitter pen.V

If It's Groovy's Birthday Blog Hop

Happy Birthday If It's Groovy!

If you have arrived from Deb's blog your on the right track.
Hope you wished If It's Groovy a Happy Birthday!
Deb started us out with the letter "B"
I am following her with the Letter "I" and I have few projects for you!

So, If It's Groovy begins with an "I"! Here is a "Inchie" Birthday Card for you!

Since all 2 year old's have the "I Do" Statement down to a science, especially when you are in the middle of whatever task they would like to "I Do"!
I made my son a "I Do" Checklist
I seen this a while back in FamilyFun Magazine, but tweaked to suit our needs!

If you didn't know already my scrap space has been in a transition. I had a decently organized Scrappy Space of my own that I was able to close the door and walk away. It was great especially with the little ones, who love to investigate! Those little ones are now almost 5 years old and 2 years old. Both of course, love to craft too! But I had to pack it all up!
Then, between moving from New Jersey, USA to Newfoundland, Canada a great distance. Along with the gradualness of the movement of our belongings. Some of my scrappy things made the cut and others have yet to arrive! The main items and elements missing are the lack of ease that I was used to in my storage systems, as well as any units/bins/etc. and the shelving themselves.
So the next project came in play!

One cool thing about being in Newfoundland, Canada!
Not sure if this is across Canada, but "Ice Cream Containers" are made of plastic.
Something that I am having fun with for a number of reasons:
1. I like to re-purpose things and have a bit of a recycling issue here! OK, so when I lived in NJ too! I feel there is no reason why recycling can't be done. They heat up and melt plastics to make the bottles why not reuse them.
2. Where we are living they do not recycle anything that contain dairy products. Not a good thing for the environment, but great for re-purposing!
3. Clean them up and you end up with great storage containers. I used them for yarns, strings, ribbons that I had left behind when we were staying last Summer! Sorting the farm animals and "dinkies" called here (Matchbox/Hot Wheels)

When the kids super big Crayola box of crayons wore out. I just dumped them into one of those plastic Chinese take out boxes. But that box somehow leaped off the table and cracked. Plus, somehow the crayon supply accumulated others along way. So, they now have a new home!

Next, is the other Re-purposing item.
"Icing Container"
So, pretty much I am organized as best I can out of Plastic Storage Totes, Boxes, 2 Rolling Scrapbooking Totes, a few Paper File Totes and whatever else.
So, if I want to use some embellishments they are in a big group together: eyelets, brads, bling, flowers, staples, tags, pins, etc!
Using the "Icing Container" I created a pin storage that allows me to just have a few stuck in the cushion I made and have the rest still in the original packaging with the rest of those embellishments.

It works for a quick grab and match to you project. Instead of digging for the package of pins.

Hope you enjoyed what you have seen for the letter "I" from me!
Love to hear what you think and if you would become a follower of my blog.
I have a little blog candy for you too!
I will be updating with a picture later today!
I will be picking someone through Random Generator, if you leave me a comment and follow!

If It's Groovy - Out of Focus Challenge

This challenge was a little out of the norm in that you should find a way to take a pic out of focus and turn that pic(s) into a layout. Well, I just happened to be scrapbooking our annual trips to PA. My Aunt and Uncle's property, which has a pond that is stocked full of fish. My husband, Gerry happened to finally in his element and I took a pic. Well, the picture below is what I ended up with. It's blurry but one of the best "Peace at Last" pictures I currently have.

Marci's Challenge on Marci's Scrapping Spot http://MarcisScrappingSpot.blogspot.com

So...I've been thinking about what challenge I wanted to give you all today. What I keep coming up with is that "No Housework Day" or not...some things just have to get done, right? And aren't we blessed to have people in our lives that pick up the slack for us when we need help? It may not be with housework (though it could be.) Maybe the help is at work, or with our kids, or even emotional. But these people are downright irreplaceable in our lives and we love them!

So my challenge to you is to make a thank-you card. If you send it to the person you had in mind, so much the better! Monday morning I will choose a random winner to receive a set of Zig Chalk Writer pens in lovely pastel colors!

Theresa'a Challenge on Scrapbookers Anonymous http://scrapbookers-anonymous.blogspot.com/

Hello, welcome to our challenge blog. We may just get you inspired to pull out those long lost eyelets, or that never used scrappy tool. So, we hope you come along for the ride... get ready to start using your SCRAPBOOK stash. =) =) Use a minimum of 23 eyelets on your page or card. let's see what ya got!!!

As far as our little blog hop challenge... we ask that you dig into your stash and use a frame on a layout or card.  It can be a premade frame or a frame of buttons, flowers, brads, etc... all we ask is that whatever you use for your frame, that it comes from your stash. Oh, and as always feel free to play along with another challenge for the same project. By participating in our challenge, think of it as a way to clean up your scrapbook stash, one less item to store and take up space... =) You are playing along for a chance to win a UNITY stamp kit called Folk Inspired. If you have not used Unity before, you are missing out. They are great stamps.
To participate in this HOP challenge and be entered for the prize, link your project up below. You must have your project added below before 11pm EST on April 10th.
Create a layout or card using a frame. it can be a premade or homemade frame of any kind, using whatever you have in your stash.
